Bio

Hello, I’m Eoin O’Sullivan, a web developer with 5 years of professional experience and I’m currently based in Dublin, Ireland. I decided to build this website to keep track of my travels and also to get started on a blog. Admittedly, I’m not a terribly good writer but I wanted to keep a blog so I could jot down my travels and anything else that I can think of.

I grew up in County Kerry, Ireland. I graduated from the Institute Of Technology, Tralee after a good five years with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (Software Development). Sensing the need for a bit of adventure before entering the real world, I travelled along the west coast of North America for a while before returning home to Kerry and beginning my career as a web developer. I worked for an expanding online travel company called CnG Travel where I became the team leader of the web development team working simultaneously with ASP, ASP.NET/C# and PHP websites. After gaining the required experience, I thought it was time for another change so I left Ireland to travel to Australia.

I spent 3 amazing years living in Sydney. Initially I worked with a web development agency in Surry Hills before moving on to a larger company named AHL. I worked with AHL for 2 1/2 years. Here I was the main web developer for the rydges.com and greaterunion.com.au websites. I worked on a vast array of projects developing online booking systems as well as maintaining the existing functionality.

I left Sydney in March of 2007 and travelled to Japan and South-East Asia before arriving back home to Ireland.

Regarding my Web Development skills, my main areas of expertise are:

  • Web Development in PHP/MySQL
  • Web Development in ASP/.NET/C#/SQL Server
  • XHTML/CSS builds of sites or conversions of existing sites
  • Highly proficient in XML & XPath
  • Adding AJAX & WEB2.0 capabilities to websites
